Apple SuperBowl ad

Jailbait if you're like... over 18... I'm still under that (for a little while though) :D

And damnit, I didn't wanna ruin it for myself, but I watched it anyways. I think it could have been a better ad, maybe they should have put more money into it than the stupid Gladiator-themed ones that will be run with Pink, Beyonce, and Britney Spears... :x (hot body, but annoying to hear...)

Man, for someone who takes his name from the Fonz: you sure arn't ****ing smooth. (no personal offence ment, though)

I don't think it's a bad ad...as far as adverts go that is.

ok, after seeing this comercial a few times I have released something, it is illegal to download music. I have decided to stop and start buying it. I have decided to use a site from my internet provider. It is http://telus.puretracks.com. I'm gonna try it out when I need music. It's gonna be different. 99 cents per song (canadian) isn't bad.

It's really nice of them to set the page title to "Reject" so I know what they think of me.

Thank you for visiting Puretracks from TELUS

Currently our website supports Internet Explorer 5.0 and above on the

Windows operating system (Win 98SE / ME / 2000 / XP / 2003),

and is available to Canadian residents only.

We value our Mac audience, however the Windows Media player for the Mac

platform is not currently compatible with Microsoft protected audio content.

Puretracks is currently working to make our service available to Mac users.

No Thank-you (as if I had a choice).

Furthermore, the Windows Media Format is not compatibile with the iPod (the most popular MP3 player) nor are the restrictions of puretracks audio as generous as the iTMS DRM. From my prospective they've got three strikes against them:

1) It doesn't work with OS X

2) It doesn't work with iTunes/iPod

3) The restrictions aren't as fair as iTMS.

Being that we're in the Macintosh forum I think the first two are pretty big obstacles. The third is a personal preference, but still relevant. Given the USD -> CDN conversion rate right now it's only about 30 cents difference -> it's worth that much to me to use iTMS - with the dollar expected to rise to 80c+ that difference is more like 25c.

Then we have the album discounts from itms. I'm not sure if puretracks has something similar because they won't let me browse their site, but I'm guessing they dont (the commercials say nothing anyway).

If that all wasn't enough there is the Canadian copyright/fair use laws too. I can head to the library with my powerbook and a stack of blank cds and make all the copies I want without breaking any laws. cost is next to nothing ($10/year + $.15/album) for any quality you want - from lossless AIFF to 64k mp3. Porn free, virus free, and the bandwidth is excellent ;) Downloading tracks is certainly convienent but the puretracks market is pretty well defined: people who want music, don't mind a little DRM, are willing to pass up a little quality, and most importantly: can't be bothered with viruses, porn, fake tracks, and bad tagging.
