+Eternal Tempest MVC Posted May 27, 2018 MVC Share Posted May 27, 2018 (edited) Just wanted to let you know I have confirmation that the Microsoft Intel Microcode Update works. The issue I have a surface pro (2013) and custom built Sandry bridge system that bios updates ended years ago with no updates in site. I used SiSoftware Sandra (lite) - https://www.sisoftware.co.uk/download-lite/ to determine the current micro-code level. Applied the update, and confirmed with Sandre Surface Pro (Info) Before Update Name : IVB (Ivy Bridge) Core v3 2C/4C 22nm 1.2-3.2GHz Revision/Stepping : 3A / 9 Stepping Mask : E1/L1 Microcode : MU063A091C Maximum Power : N/A - 17.000W - 21.250W After update Name : IVB (Ivy Bridge) Core v3 2C/4C 22nm 1.2-3.2GHz Revision/Stepping : 3A / 9 Stepping Mask : E1/L1 Microcode : MU063A091F Maximum Power : N/A - 17.000W - 21.250W The updates below pretty much cover Sandy bridge (2xxx) to Coffee Lake (8xxx). The only known issue, is depending on the cpu generation, certain types of cpu usage could be noticeable slower then before. 1803 - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4100347/intel-microcode-updates-for-windows-10-version-1803-and-windows-server Download - http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/search.aspx?q=4100347 1709 - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4090007/intel-microcode-updates Download - http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB4090007 If you want to check your system to see if your vulnerable GRC InSpectre - https://www.grc.com/inspectre.htm (and the ability to disable / enable the patch). adrynalyne 1 Share
+Eternal Tempest MVC Posted May 27, 2018 Author MVC Share Posted May 27, 2018 Note, this update does not cover the v4 variant just discovered, but may be included in a future revision of the update to include the code.
erpster3
there were other Intel Microcode updates from Microsoft for even older versions of Win10 that you missed, Eternal Tempest. Microsoft support KB article 4093836 lists them all. KB4091663 for Win10 v1703 - all editions (download here) KB4091664 for Win10 v1607 - all editions (download here) KB4091666 for Win10 RTM v1507 LTSB only (download here) So far these updates do not cover Arrandale and Clarkdale (1st gen Intel core i3/i5/i7) processors yet, which may require a future revision of the updates. goretsky 1 Share
