Back in 2016, Google announced Project Fi group plans, allowing up to six users to access the same plan under a single account. Today, the company is taking steps to improve group plans for families by allowing the addition of children.
By adding children to a group plan, they get access to all the features offered by Project Fi, such as automatically connecting to free Wi-Fi hotspots and more, but parents also get the ability to keep an eye on their children's phone and data usage.
Project Fi lets parents easily see how much data their kids have used and lets them set notifications at specific points so that children are aware of how much data they're using.
Additionally, the Family Link app allows them to manage their children's phone, such as their apps and how much time they spend using them. It's also possible to remotely lock kids' devices if they've spent too much time on it or if it's time to go to sleep. Parents can also filter out content their children see in Chrome, Search and other Google apps and services.
