Flash
i have 256mb ddr333 ram on my athlonxp 2400+ and some of my games are stuttering. It takes a long time to load back to windows after a game like farcry demo. My video card is gf3ti200 and i know it runs smooth. It just stutters when its loading something. I'm planning to upgrade to 512mb ddr400, good idea or no? :ninja:

HellBender
Very bad idea! its is bad for your computer.. If it was good, then they'd call it "nudge" instead of "ram"
shihchiun
??? Of course it's a good idea... (And seriously, you shouldn't be playing games with 256 mb of ram..)

Steven
the stuttering is the excessive amount of Virtual RAM your system is deleting when you leave the game. I had this problem with 512MB of RAM since upgrading to 1.5GB my games open and close very fast. :D
threetonesun
I just did this over Christmas break, it makes a freakin' huge difference.

nuka_t
dont get 400mhz ram it would just run at 333 get a 333 one if u can find it cheaper.

It really doesn't make a noticeable difference over that unless your entire computer is upgraded (fast video card + processor too).
OptiPlex
I upgraded to 384, and I tell you, all my stuttering problems are gone :ninja: Now, America's Army no longer says I have 90,000 ping which happened because of the excess swapping on the HD! I think my HD is going to die   Damn if OfficeMax had more 80GB HD's...
Flash
But do i really need 1GB or ram or will 512mb be enough? dont get 400mhz ram it would just run at 333 get a 333 one if u can find it cheaper.Right now i have a thoroughbred . I'm planning to get a barton soon enough so my brother can have my cpu since he's on a xp1600+well doesnt it matter on the mb and if it supports ddr400? what mb do you have? I have a GA-7VAX KT400 that supports ddr400 at max
Aaron A Aaronsen
The extra 256mb is difference enough. You probably wouldn't notice the additional speed of DDR 400, and for the price, you've got to ask if it's really worth it.
OptiPlex
You only need 1GB of RAM unless you're doing things that are very intensive. Games -> 512 is fine.
Whiteraven_Ex
i starting some animations and other graphical thing on my computer recently, so i would like more to make the computer go faster so i dnt get too stressed, (will have enuf of that with my animations  )
shihchiun
unless you are going to replace all the ram, don't get the 400mhz ram because it will only run at 333mhz, since your other stick is at that speed.
Flash
maybe i'll just add 256mb pc2700 instead of getting a new stick of 512mb ddr pc3200. what would be better? get 512mb ddr3200 or upgrade the geforce3ti200 64mb to a geforce4ti4200 128mb?
