theyarecomingforyou
Doom 3 is demanding... 1024x768 brings my computer to a crawl... it peaks at 60-70fps but drops as low as 10 (using the machine gun brings it to a halt). Specs: Athlon XP 2400+ 768MB DDR3200 Radeon AIW 9800SE (softmodded to 9800Pro 365/730) - latest drivers Audigy 2 I haven't optimized the config though... Half-Life 2 runs amazingly at 1280x960, full detail. I expect it will run fine when it's finally released, but I hope at least some levels will have some light in... As for speed, all the benchmarks I've seen show Nvidia cards being much faster (the 5950 gets 43 to the 9800XT's 32) than their equivalent ATI card... hopefully ATI will have made more progress with drivers by the times it's released (they're getting better all the time). At least ATI is faster for Half-Life 2... *shrugs*

flupke
Meh.. DOOM3 alpha was much more heavier then the original release will be.. And the 9600PRO is not equivalent to a GF3TI so i don't get that statement! In my opinion anyone who has this system or higher will be to run the game fine : 1800+ / P4 2000mhz GF FX 5600 (DX9.0) / ATI R9600Pro (DX9.0) 512MB DDR (Think 266mhz will do) Don't exagurate in these games.. Ok they are heavy, but they're still games. Much much more of requirements and the game won't sell!
M/\TT
I'll probably be upgrading when Doom 3 comes out. Graphics wise anyway. Doing ok in the other area's. P4 2.8C with 1Gb PC3200 (2 x 512Mb dual channel) :)
ABC
Tho, 2 weeks ago, EBgames contacted me via e-mail saying that Doom 3 was still delayed until April. I hope I will get my pre-order of it before or at the same time. Well it's my first pre-order ever, (credit card + online :s) so I'm a bit scared! :p
