rezza Veteran Posted January 30, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 30, 2004 any sblive, audigy, or audigy2 work fine... you just need to make sure the emu10k1 support is enabled in your kernel... either built-in or as a module. EDIT: well, almost any will work... some proprietary versions from ppl like hp or dell might not... but they are extremely rare.

I'd actually recommend the Creative drivers if he's using 2.4.xx and the internal kernel module if he's using 2.6.xx. The Creative drivers are at opensource.creative.com
Budious
Visit http://www.alsa-project.org/ and download the newest driver, I use ALSA with slackware 9.1 (2.4.22) and my Audigy 2 Platnium, works great. You will have to recompile the kernel to enable the number of sound channels you want, Slackware defaults to 2, may be different with other distros. HeavyTwenty
Just with my Fedora Core 1 experience, I had trouble setting up my Audigy 2 because I didn't disable my intergrated sound system (AC '97). But after I disabled the intergrated sound through the bios, my Audigy 2 worked without any trouble.
HyakuMan
yeah, using fedora core 1 with alsa makes my audigy2 sound amazing! surprisingly even better than in windows cuz there's full surround sound support. course, it takes a bit of work to get alsa workin.
