That doesn't fit their pretty little narrative though.

I think Communism has killed the most, just take a look at how they treated thier soldiers in WW2.

I don't really see any argument you can make when you see those kinds of death tolls from a branch of socialism. But I guess just saying "learn your history" makes you correct here.

Though if I am wrong maybe you can show me some sources on that claim?

News to you all... it's OK to be white. YOU may not think so, but it really is.

WHY make a public issue of what race you are ??

No wonder you have the views you do. You don't actually read news that disagrees with your views. It is 100% clear now. You don't want facts. You want your agenda, in your face, all the time. Gotcha. No need to reply. We won't agree on anything.

I learned from all my Facebook friends, all from a deep red state (AL) where I was born and raised, that people who live in a bubble of their own choosing, will not listen to alternative views, even when/if they are dead wrong.

True, and IMHO if we are going to err, it should be on the side of compassion.  Else why are our values any better than anyone else's?  And although America is a secular nation, not Christian, however those who like to think of our country as Judaeo-Christian ought to realize that compassion and mercy are THE central teachings of Christ.

I don't think, no, I KNOW that those who follow the Bernie Sanders contingent of the Dem Party, do not reject capitalism, just what they view as unjust crony capitalism.  They certainly do NOT espouse any form of Totalitarianism in any way, shape or form.

I don't know about anyone else but I was born and raised in the US. So no, I'm not an immigrant. Pretty sure the same goes for hundreds of millions of other people too.

What a disingenuous argument to try to make.

P.S. Native Americans are in fact not native to the American continent either. They migrated here just like you're saying everyone else did. Sure they were first (as far as we know) but that's rather beside the point.

Then you haven't been paying very much attention.

No, You're not American. Your forefathers came from somewhere else and landed in the US, that makes you a child of immigrants, exactly the same as people that Trump is trying to label as "They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people." or locking up in cages when they've committed no crime, exactly the same as, most likely, every single person in those Fox buildings. The U.S. is now, by design, a country made mostly of immigrants, unfortunately some of those immigrants then decide that no-one else should have the gift they had, that's a national disgrace and why every single one of you would not defend that astounds me.

IT'S ON THE STATUE OF LIBERTY!

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

When I say those words now should be changed since the "golden door" now seems to be slammed shut and locked, I mean it.

Instead of going by what you 'think', perhaps we can go based upon actually analysis of evidence?

This article calculates 100 million people were killed as a result of communist regimes; meanwhile it is calculated that 205 million people were killed as a result of capitalist regimes, which doesn't even take into account the impact of capitalism on the environment.

I'm not trying to suggest socialism or communism are perfect systems that can easily replace capitalism—clearly they are not and have their own issues—but I certainly do argue that they are better starting points for basing society on. We cannot allow the environment to be destroyed because we obfuscate the impact through corporations and outsource production to other countries to avoid environmental regulations. Companies reap the rewards of the economic output whilst avoiding any responsibility for environment destruction and pollution. And workers are deprived the rewards of their economic output so that a minority in the wealth class can live lives of luxury.

If capitalism continues on its current trajectory we are headed for disaster. Jobs will be replaced by machines - taxi, bus and truck drivers will be replaced by self-driving vehicles; supermarkets will be replaced by machines that pick out produce, package it and transport it direct to customers; fast food restaurants will be replaced by self-serve booths that can construct burgers and machines that can clean restaurants; call centre jobs will be replaced by AI that can understand customer requests and address queries. The jobs left will be much more limited and lack progression for the majority in society. And if consumers don't have money then they can't spend at businesses, even if they have automated their entire production.

There needs to be a major change to how we structure society. Automation should be used to improve quality of life and prevent people working pointless jobs that can be automated. I personally advocate a Star Trek style economy where all basic needs are provided and careers are used for status and working towards the greater good. Even if we retain a capitalist society basic needs should be provided by society (accommodation; food; internet; heating; transport, etc) and jobs should then support any luxuries on top of that. That would completely eliminate the benefit trap we see now where people reliant on benefits are punished for working because they end up worse off. It would benefit the arts, with people choosing not to work and live basic lives whilst pursuing art and music that could potentially lead to a decent income. It would also revolutionise business because workers wouldn't have to tolerate menial, low paying jobs and businesses would have to compete for workers. And even entrepreneurs could benefit, putting their time towards creative ideas instead of being exhuasted by 40+ hour work weeks.

I don't see how anyone who supports capitalism can support its current implementation. Therefore it's about how we improves things for all.

It's interesting that far more detail was offered to the Capitalism post than the Communism one. It's also interesting that some of the deaths cited in the latter article are things as granular as drone strikes. Are we really at the point of just looking at these numbers as numbers and not acknowledging the methods that were used. It's hilarious we're even having this discussion of body counts between ideologies.

First, lets ignore the fact that getting any form of accurate death toll counts from secretive countries like China, Russia, North Korea, etc that have much basis in fact (and not propaganda) is going to be a challenge already. Second, the list of communist countries there isn't a complete list. Countries like HUngary were communist less than 40 years ago and a plethora of other countries. So I'm just going to assume this is an incomplete list.

Lastly, we're just talking Communism. This doesn't include socialist regimes like Nazi Germany. As capitalism is a much wider net to throw than communism is, why don't we widen the scope of our "death toll" count. I don't think any, single Capitalistic regime is responsible for as many deaths as any single Communist or Socialist regime.

Then lets not mention that the latter article conveniently inflates its numbers with poverty. As if Russia, China and North Korea don't have massive death tolls from their own impoverished populations? Where are these numbers in your former article? I mean, it's quite funny that the previous article only includes major events for Communism but the Capitalist article explicitly calls out poverty as "Systematic violence" and slaps a count of 18 Million deaths on it. But I guess what's the point of comparing Apples to Apples here? Unless you really want me to believe that "Systematic violence" doesn't happen in countries like Russia, North Korea, Afghanistan or China.

Lets also considering the fact these calculations in the article include "direct and indirect", where the article on Communism pretty much only deals with "direct" death. So again, not comparing apples to apples. Oh, and the number includes "enslaved" but not "dead". But nice try.

Honorable Mentions:
The basis of the "Native American Genocide" is from a historian who was found to have done a lot of bad crap to make his point.

Quote

In 2005, University of Colorado Boulder administrators ordered an investigation into seven allegations of research misconduct,[37] including three allegations of plagiarism, and four allegations of fabrication or falsification regarding the history of the Dawes Act, the Indian Arts and Crafts Act of 1990, and statements that smallpox was intentionally spread to Native Americans by John Smith in 1614 and by the United States Army at Fort Clark in 1837 (not to be confused with the well-documented use of smallpox-infected blankets at Fort Pitt in 1764).

On May 16, 2006 the University released their findings; the Investigative Committee agreed unanimously that Churchill had engaged in "serious research misconduct", including falsification, fabrication, and two of the three allegations of plagiarism.[4]

So another reason to throw this BS out.

Under this definition, there was never an american. Where do you think "native americans" came from? Grown locally? Even then, do you think there were no invasions of areas between tribes? Depending on how far you want to go back, no one is from a single country. What matters is NOW.

News to you all... it's OK to be white. YOU may not think so, but it really is.

Then where would you put ME, Rippleman?  (I'm not DocM (if anything, I'm darker-skinned than he is), and Michael Steele and Charles Payne are darker than even me; the issue is that none of the four of us (I have to, in all fairness, include DocM in the lambasting being taken) don't follow the "expected" messaging coming from those of our ethnicity (DocM has more "native American" ethnicity than even Elizabeth Warren - let alone me;  I have more Black ethnicity than anything, etc., Charles Payne and Michael Steele are obvious).  Michael Steele started getting hammered before he became GOP chair (and while Maryland's lieutenant governor) because he dared to run for that post while Black and a Republican; never mind that a grand total of one Black Democrat ever won a statewide race in Maryland - Charles "Mac" Mathias) - Steele becoming lieutanant governor made him the second - one of each party. Therefore so much for inequality THAT way - all Steele did was - literally - even the record.  I don't "get political while a Democrat" any more than the other three I named; that is, if anything, the real issue.  (In my and DocM's case, we both used to be Democrats - and we both get pounded on for daring to leave - since when is LEAVING a political party that we feel betrayed us a crime?  I didn't leave for the SAME reason DocM did; similar, yes; but NOT the same.  Neither one of us (DocM or myself) are masochists.

There was one woman on TV who said that the gangs killed husband and were going to kill her and her kids so she need to come and seek asylum.

It is NEVER moral to put a child (any child) in even the temporary custody of a KNOWN molester - that was indeed the case with one group nailed via the Brownsville, TX POE.  The children he claimed to be the parents of accused him of molestation, they were separated from him (SOP); then it turns out he had a record (both in the US and in his native Honduras) for child molestatiopn (oooops); he got his butt tossed from the US on a previous attempt over it (YIKES).  (Sopurces: CNN and MSNBC).  Problem: you can't do due-diligence on coyotes - which would have, in fact, uncovere4d offenses like this.  So you tell me - why is this sort of risk worth it?

"No, You're not American. Your forefathers came from somewhere else and landed in the US, that makes you a child of immigrants"

If we're playing by the rules you use here then no one anywhere in the world except for maybe native Africans in Africa are actually truly native and everyone everywhere else is an immigrant.

"exactly the same as people that Trump is trying to label as "They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people." "

Yeah. No. Not even gonna bother with a more in depth reply to this.

"or locking up in cages when they've committed no crime"

Their very existence in the country is a crime. Maybe don't enter the country illegally if you don't want to be locked up while your unwanted presence is being dealt with?

"The U.S. is now, by design, a country made mostly of immigrants, unfortunately some of those immigrants then decide that no-one else should have the gift they had, that's a national disgrace and why every single one of you would not defend that astounds me."

I just gotta ask, where do you get this stuff? Are you seeing it on your preferred news channels? Because no one who actually lives in the US actually feels this way. And if they do it's an extremely tiny minority. Smells like propaganda to me.

"When I say those words now should be changed since the "golden door" now seems to be slammed shut and locked, I mean it."

I'm genuinely confused by this. We welcome any and all LEGAL immigrants. But if you're not here legally then it's safe to make quite a few assumptions about that person and one of them is that they don't care about our rules and laws and want to take advantage of the systems put in place for actual CITIZENS. I have no sympathy for what happens to illegal immigrants, as far how they're treated by our government when they're caught goes.

Honestly with all the straw man and hyperbole you're putting forth it's hard to think you want an actual honest discussion but I gave you one anyways.

Honestly, this country would be FAR better off if people stopped watching CLEARLY extreme news channels (Fox, MSNBC, CNN, etc.)

The sad thing is, that's not likely to happen, because most of the biggest voices in National/International News are disgustingly one-sided.  ?

Fox News republican? What is that even supposed to mean?  Sounds like a petty deflection...

All major news stations are extreme, and extreme trash at that.  Doesn't matter what side of the spectrum either.  They all majorly bias what they report and it's nonstop whining and complaining about the other side.  Clearly I lean more to one side, but would I ever watch Fox News?  Hell no.  I can think for myself, and more people should do just that.
