Dfresh321
I'm on a college campus wide network. I've noticed that Win XP pro does not give you an option of password protecting your shared folders or printers like win98/me did. I would like to share my printer across the network, with a password, so i can print to it from a remote location. When I tried to share my printer i noticed that everyone on the network has access to my printer. If some of you can help me password protect my printer it would be much appreciated. trashpickinman
You probably have Simple File sharing enabled. To turn this off go to Tools... Folder Options in Explorer then go to the View tab. Go to the bottom of the list and uncheck "use simple file sharing" Now go to the sharing tab of the printer and you can set up users to block and allow and other options.
