Neowin Becoming Unusable

Recommended Posts

I'm sure it's been posted elsewhere but the recent "Server too busy" messages are making the site almost unusable. I've had them for the last three or four days now, getting progressively worse each day.

Are the Neowin Gods on the case? Or is it to do with that infernal virus currently doing the rounds?

We just hit 20; Its getting quite weird. I'd be personally willing to stop taking all emails for a few days until it settles down if thats the issue.

I haven't been getting the server busy error, but at some times, it takes a couple of minutes to load up a single page.

patience, grasshoppers....too many people are screwing up the net by not having their anti-virus stuff up to date and neowin is paying the price. blame the idiots on the web and the virus writers - not neowin.

i  neowin

Been getting it a lot.

Redmak: Try adding some new spam filter rules and virus scanner updates. See if you can stop this crap from clogging the mail server up.

Or just go and get a Dual 2.2ghz Opteron server w/ 4gb RAM :p

I'm not sure if it's a lot but the mailserver processed more than 110000 emails in 3 days

That's ALOT. Maybe a better server is required

you know i manage a few web servers, each with multiple sites and the mail server running on the same box, and none of mine have this problem... sounds like bad server setup to me... bad rules processing and possible even a bad antivirus program (like Norton) which could cripple the server itself.

If you're serious, use AVG.

And if you don't manage this server yourselves, you may want to try to get your hosts to do something.
