Fusion
I notice on some chat programs for windows, icq and aim use the same preference and connect engine. So is it possible for me to talk to people using ICQ on iChat?
Tim Dorr Veteran Posted January 31, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 31, 2004 I know they introduced an ICQ<->AIM bridge a while back, but I dunoo if iChat supports it.
Steve
I think iChat does support ICQ to some degree, but I don't use it, so I wouldn't know how. Did you try the obvious, of wanging their name (ICQ No.) in the AIM Address space? *shrug*
SPeedY_B
Just had a quick experiment with this idea. I added my ICQ number to iChat, logged into ICQ.. iChat said I was offline. I added my iChat/AiM to ICQ and ICQ saw me as being online. I attempted to talk to myself (mmm, tastes like insanity) the message from ICQ reached iChat, but I could not reply as I was "offline" I removed the ICQ number from my iChat buddies, then tried again, I could then reply. So in summary, you can talk to someone on ICQ, however you can't add them to your buddy list (as they would never be online anyway, so there's no point in it) and the ICQ user needs to initiate the conversation. As I say, this was real quick as I was just curious.. further faffing may reveal more :D
