drosje
Is it true that Apple gives you a mouse pad and two sticker decals with your new Mac? Thanks!

markwolfe Veteran Posted February 1, 2004 Veteran Share Posted February 1, 2004 Hmmm... I checked online at store.apple.com, and didn't see any reference to a mousepad.... Perhaps they will at a brick-n-mortar store? Does it still come with a one-button mouse as standard? (And, yes, I know that it supports 3-button mice - and probably 12-button ones, too - I am asking about 'standard equipment')

drosje
Yeah, I have even found the one-button mouse to be a bit more productive after being a Windows user for yeeearrrrss...
Fusion
Yeah, I have even found the one-button mouse to be a bit more productive after being a Windows user for yeeearrrrss... That is so confusing to me when people say this. Right click in photoshop is my most used tool. I don't know how a 1 button mouse could be MORE productive. I could see it if some people find that they are still just as productive with a 1 button mouse, but how does having less buttons make you MORE productive?
macman87
i think its an apple tradition to give stickers... the first mac had 2 apple logo stickers
SFNE Freak
I dunno...isn't the claim that you don't need a mouse pad with an optical mouse. Therefore, I doubt Apple gives mousepads.

Max Veteran Posted February 1, 2004 Veteran Share Posted February 1, 2004 I found two Apple stickers whilst nosing around in one of the eMac boxes at college. They didn't have the mouse mats though.

Its a strange concept when we all can agree that its not 'hard' to think which mouse button to hit, but not having to think about did dawn on me, and it made things more sort of... ' care free ', i guess?

kairon
I didn't receive either a mousepad or stickers when I got my iMac. The mousepad I think your referring to is the round black mousepad with the metallic X on it, stores would give you it or dog tags when you bought Panther when it came out, AFAIK they were a limited quantity to promote Panther. thetman
the mouse pads are not in that short of supply, we got some more in and our apple rep @ compusa will give you one if you ask. we have a pretty decent size stack so sounds like apple is still makin them. head over to a compusa w/apple store or apple store and you could probably get one , just make sure you look interested in buying a mac
aristotle-dude
If you buy from a brick and mortar store, you can usually get them to throw in extras to seal the deal. I got a laptop bag at cost when I bought my 12" pbook. If you are getting a desktop, you can usually get them to include a mouse mat and perhaps even a three button mouse at cost (if not free). michael.b
The mousepad was part of a promotion more predominantly frequented stores like CompUSA and Best Buy rather than the Apple Store. They were handed out when interest was shown towards the Apple product (at CompUSA and Best Buy), as I suppose, a marketing tatic to get you to come and take a second look at that Mac. It was also distributed in promotion with purchase of hardware in the Apple Store . All I had to do was ask and I got one. As for the stickers, I received 2 with my powerbook g4. I also received 2 when I purchased the ".mac".
