Install Nvidia driver updates without the awful GeForce Experience or Telemetry

We live in a world where companies are collecting all sorts of telemetry without even asking, and in many cases even after their customers have paid a lot of money for the product they are tracking unasked. Nvidia is no exception, not only do they now force you to update drivers through the GeForce Experience software, they also enable telemetry services in Windows to collect all sorts of data. You can search online for "Nvidia Telemetry" to learn more. Fact is, you aren't offered a choice, which is wrong, even after spending hundreds of dollars, euros or pounds on their product.

Now, updated drivers will even return an incompatibility error if you attempt to manually update drivers on some systems and Windows will even roll back to an older driver if you update it manually despite it being perfectly compatible and correct driver. TinyNvidiaUpdateChecker will check your current driver version and download if needed the latest one and only install what is needed without all the telemetry crap.

You can read more about it at GHacks, which is a very good and informative site, I recommend everyone bookmark it!

And you can get the latest TinyNvidiaUpdateChecker here.

Things to note: if TinyNvidiaUpdateChecker fails to actually update the driver despite appearing to (as happened to me with my 1060 GTX 6GB card), depending on your Windows setup, you may have to run DDU first and clean out all OEM and previous Nvidia drivers and then run TinyNvidiaUpdateChecker again.

Not sure about the telemetry, but when I install the official drivers from Nvidia it actually asks if I want just the drivers or the drivers and GeForce Experience

For some it fails on the System Check part already saying that the Windows version is incompatible. There are a lot of thread about this on the Nvidia support forums, and the only feedback moderators give is to update via GeForce Experience (which does work).

Same. I’ve not had the incompatible issue either and I never install GeForce Experience. I wonder if it’s just for certain cards.
