I know neowin.net needs advertising, but this one ad just ****es me off :(.

It will appear as like a totally new window, like when you open something from the desktop. oh well... damn ie javascripts.

i don't get this add either...

maybe you should just scan your computer for spyware or just visit that site and see what it states; maybe you will find some removal information there, though i doubt it...

but it sure looks like somekind spyware for me :shifty:

maybe you just don't visit neowin enough, no I don't have any spyware.. it only happens when I visit neowin.net sometimes.

Sorry I was not trying to offend you. My aplogies if I did do so. :/

Redmak, the thread he is viewing in the screenshot is this one.

I visited the thread and that add did not come up. If I were in your shoes I would run a spyware scan. :)

It only happens on neowin.net, nowhere else and it happens like at least once a day when I visit neowin.

I scanned with ad-aware and spybot s&d and the only thing it picked up were cookies, I don't have any foreign process running that I don't know what they do and the only extension I have to IE installed is the google toolbar. I also keep my windows xp up to date accordingly with the windowsupdate site so I'm pretty sure that it's neowin.

I didn't click the ad, but I saw it kept annoying me so I thought I would post here.

Good idea. I believe several users have been to the thread and no-one complained. Maybe if you are interested format your computer and that should solve it. :p

It's not just that thread, it happens randomly all over neowin, like forums and the front page.. It just happened to popup on that thread I was on, and like I said I don't think it's me as it only happens on neowin and it looks like a javascript.

Suprisingly enough, I just got it... the image file is: expandable-bannerV2_1a.gifhttp://images.trafficmp.com/tmpad/content/Enigma/0104/expandable-bannerV2_1a.gif

The source is..

<script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'>
<!--
 ? if (!document.phpAds_used) document.phpAds_used = ',';
 ? phpAds_random = new String (Math.random()); phpAds_random = phpAds_random.substring(2,11);
 ? document.write ("<" + "script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript' src='");
 ? document.write ("https://www.neowin.net/phpAdsNew/adjs.php?n=" + phpAds_random);
 ? document.write ("&what=zone:3&target=_blank");
 ? document.write ("&exclude=" + document.phpAds_used);
 ? if (document.referer)
 ? ? ?document.write ("&referer=" + escape(document.referer));
 ? document.write ("'><" + "/script>");
//-->
</script><noscript><a href='https://www.neowin.net/phpAdsNew/adclick.php?n=a25749dd' target='_blank'><img src='https://www.neowin.net/phpAdsNew/adview.php?what=zone:3&n=a25749dd' border='0' alt=''></a></noscript></center>

When you mouseover the image, it adds the image:

expandable-bannerV2_1B.gifhttp://images.trafficmp.com/tmpad/content/Enigma/0104/expandable-bannerV2_1B.gif

I just got it on the search page for active posts

It directs to: http://ad.trafficmp.com/tmpad/banner/click...ownload416.html
