Drov
I tried to help out by giving constructive criticism in rpm's Revlimit website feedback thread to not only him but to the entire Moderation team here at NeoWin. Well, since that thread is no longer on the board for members to see, it appears that the moderation team did an even worse thing, they made it non-visible to the members and did not tell anyone who posted in that thread where it went. Once again team, you've let me down. All that I request is that you provide explanations when you close or erase a thread to the members who have posted in that particular thread. Also, when a thread contains bashing, close it down and let it go no further and provide an explanation that says that bashing will not be tolerated and any other form of it will have the same result. I think these two simple measures will help NeoWin to become a better place for all who inhabit it.
.Atlantis
I do believe they PM the owner of the thread clarifying the status of the thread.
Drov
I do believe they PM the owner of the thread clarifying the status of the thread. That's fine but I think they should also PM the prominent posters of that thread as well. Such as you and I Atlantis.
FlishFun Veteran Posted February 1, 2004 Veteran Share Posted February 1, 2004 Just PM a Mod instead of makin' a thread like this: Neowin requires that members respect the decision of moderators. Threads and posts questioning the actions or decisions of forum moderations will be deleted on sight, and the appropriate action taken (up to and including forum bans) against the thread starter and/or participants. However, as a member you reserve the right to PM any moderator or administrator regarding action taken at Neowin. Also, they normally tell the thread starter... but why would they tell everyone? That's just not sensable. I understand what you feel... just PM a mod, instead of makin' threads like this.

.Atlantis
Unless the whole thread was beyond repair. I suggest they just lock the topic instead. Instead of resorting to deletion, why not prune the topic?
.Atlantis
It is people unable to use search that are making this site worse. https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?act=...opics&highlite= The topic we are on about is not in the search results. It was deleted, like he said.
nazgul
It'd be a large scale effort to notify EVERY person who posted in a thread, anytime that thread was to be modified... Seeing how many threads get moved around/edited/closed every day, and the vast amount of people posting is those threads... yeah. Frankly, I think the mods do a fine job as it is, considering the MASSIVE nature of Neowin. Also, you say the mods have let you down... If you were paying them in anyway, or providing a service for them, yeah, you be able to say that. But they're not. They're volunteers. They already have enough work as it is. Joel
What, so we're supposed to track down 10+ posters and tell them where the thread went? Not gonna happen, as Dana Carvey used to say. If it's not your thread, why would we tell you it's moved?
hornett
The topic we are on about is not in the search results. It was deleted, like he said. Yep, my mistake. Looks like it's people like me making Neowin worse. :pinch:  My apologies!
Joel
Unless the whole thread was beyond repair. I suggest they just lock the topic instead. Instead of resorting to deletion, why not prune the topic? How do you know it's not moved while it's pruned? The answer is, you don't. So creating this thread to demand the status of a thread makes no sense.

john smith 1924 Veteran Posted February 1, 2004 Veteran Share Posted February 1, 2004 Guys, i'm afraid that there are certain things here that you just have to accept. We are not able to pm each "promiment" poster in all the threads that get moved : simple as cheese. We aint going to do it! Why? Mainly because we have a existing policy that seems to be working well ( pming the thread starter), and also because its simpy impractical / impossible to do so. If we left lots of closed threads all over the boards the place would be a mess. Simply so that you could satisfy an idle curiousity to find out other peoples issues is not a good reason to leave them there. As we have said before: if you have an issue with a post or a mods decision, PM THE MOD or the ADMINS. We do not need mindless posts from people who simply couldn't be bothered to PM someone. We don't PM people who have posted in a thread that it was moved. I just don't see the point in PMing something like: Hi! The thread in which you were flaming (insert name here), and bashing the mods has been moved to (insert location here). Please take note." Thanks! (insert Moderator here)
