saud_o1
hi there ppl... i dunno y i can't figure out what refresh rates in gamez r for? how do they affect the gaMe? thanx
HellBender
A refresh rate is how fast your screen updates itself, basically. Its different from frames-per-second in that FPS is what your computer/gpu pushes out, while the refresh rate is what your monitor pushes out. If you have a refresh rate of like 40hz (for example), your screen would be flickering and you would clearly see horizontal lines going up and down your screen (kinda like what you see when someone videotapes a monitor). The lower your refresh rate, the more strain there is on your eyes, and the faster you'll get a headache. Most occasional users are fine with 60hz. For intense gamers and computer passionates, 75hz is a must.

Homie
You dont want to run at 60hz with flourescent lights around. They both refresh at 60hz and can cause interference with the light waves. Meaning loss of color, quality etc on the monitor.
DigitalN.
i have the most powerful light there is for my room. (im sure everyone will get that) it starts with an S and its a 3 letter word
nazgul
For me, in any case, I can actually SEE the flicker from 60htz, and it messes with my eyes/gives me headaches. Even 75htz does to an extent... 85htz is a must, in my opinion. Oh, and Homie... nice avatar

Marduk
I can't bloody stand 60hz on monitors, it's a bloody nightmare! If you want to burn out your eyeballs then 60hz gaming is the way (Y)! Maybe dacool should start a "60hz gamer alliance".

nazgul
i run 60mhz on my samsung lcd and everything's fine for me Actually, there's a large difference there. LCD's don't refresh in the ways that CRT monitors do... so you're not gonna have the same situation.

I have an LCD, and 60hz gives me a headache in <15 minutes. 75hz has never given me a headache though, not even after hours and hours of usage. Yuxi
On my CRT monitor, I can literally see the flicker going down the screen at 60hz - my eyes are unconfortable just looking at it for a few minutes. 75hz is good, but at school, those dumb "tech" people always set it to 60 and won't let us change it. At home, on my LCD, 60 or 75 is fine, though I prefer 75. I don't play a lot of games either. :)
