This week, Samsung announced a brand new interface for its Android devices, dubbed One UI. Featuring a minimalistic and decluttered design, the new experience is meant to facilitate one-handed use and cut back on unnecessary information.
Samsung only specifically announced the new UI for its current flagships, and, shortly afterward, reports suggested that it wouldn't be coming to last year's devices, such as the S8, S8+, and Note8, but it seems that won't be the case after all.
Samsung has sent out a statement to Android Authority confirming that the 2017 flagships will indeed get access to the refreshed experience, though there's no indication that they will be able to participate in the beta program. One UI is scheduled for an official rollout in January 2019 for the Galaxy S9, S9+, and Note9, and it should roll out to last year's devices sometime after that.
If you own one of the range-toppers released this year and you want to try out One UI a little early, you can sign up for the beta program through the Samsung Members app (or Samsung+ for those in the U.S.). The beta is expected to launch in the U.S., Germany, and Korea later this month, and it will expand to China, France, India, Poland, Spain, and the UK sometime later.
