Just assembled my PC and display will not show on monitor.

well, to be fair, those post LEDs do the same thing as a speaker

so, hmmmm, if you don't get a Post-LED or beep with CPU removed, makes one lean toward the "dead motherboard" theory...

Hello,

According to the ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING CPU Support page on ASUS' support web site, you need to have BIOS version 1002 or newer installed in order to recognize an Intel Core I9-9900K CPU.

The latest BIOS foir the motherboard is version 1601, which can be downloaded from: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1151/ROG_STRIX_Z370-E_GAMING/ROG-STRIX-Z370-E-GAMING-ASUS-1601.zip

I also found an article in ASUS's knowledgebase which might be of interest:

FAQ 1029959: [Motherboard]Nothing shows on monitor after assembling a PC, the way of identification by connecting the buzzer

It lists several PWR_LED and beep code combinations for various errors specific to the motherboard model.

Good catch on the CPU support.

But that really puts him in a Catch-22 situation - In order BOOT he has to update the BIOS, but in order to update the BIOS, he has to BOOT!

ASUS quick USB Flash doesn't require a CPU does it?

https://rog.asus.com/technology/republic-of-gamers-motherboard-innovations/usb-bios-flashback/

shouldn't be too much of an issue to update the BIOS if that's all the issue is; worth a try at least :)

Thank you everyone!

Goretsky is right, after double checking with many other sources I found out it is a patch issue and it will not work with my current motherboard. Therefore, I have returned that motherboard and got the z390-e which is for sure compatible with this setup. I am just waiting for the board to be delivered and should be able to try it over the weekend.

Have a nice weekend and thanks for the help here
