www.magicsearch.ws?

Question

Solth    0

Has anyone had been *infected* with Magicsearch?, when you try to change your IE explorer start page it automatically reverts back to Magicsearch.ws!, the when going though the registry and deleting ALL references to Magicsearch it automatically put's it right back in!, THEN using programs like Spybot, Lavasoft and Pest Patrol(which finds nothing) BUT won't let you update because apparently Magicsearch prevents this?, just wanting to find out if anyone had this happen and what was your fix for TOTALLY getting rid of it(well besides a total re-install of Windows XP!), Thanks in advance!

scrub the registry for all instances of magicsearch. To do this start up regedit by typing regedit in the run dialogue. then save the registry by exporting the whole thing through the export option in the file menu (not necessary, but it might save a reinstall of windows). now go to the edit menu and select find. type in magicsearch, www.magicsearch.ws, and anything that you think will only pertain to magicsearch. delete each instance of them that you find. then check the programs that you have enables for startup by typing msconfig in the run dialogue and go over to the tab marked startup. uncheck everythihng but your antivirus. then restart and run spybot when you get everything back up. then go back into msconfig and put everything back to start up that you want to. It should work now.evry
