shockz
Why is it when i click on a newegg link by any poster in this thread: It first redirects to go.neowin.net, and throws up a security error in the process? I.e clicking on https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAD6H5EE6765 Actually does this first? https://go.neowin.net/?id=2728X590260&xs=1&isjs=1&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.newegg.com%2FProduct%2FProduct.aspx%3Fitem%3DN82E16824236660&xguid=250574fe78f533b0c16b23a5e0a4bf86&xuuid=43b49cf9366d896103de46c69f5f5262&xsessid=&xcreo=0&xed=0&sref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.neowin.net%2Fforum%2Ftopic%2F1377764-the-horror-of-finding-a-1440p-144hz-ips-gsync-gaming-monitor-27-pref-curved%2F&pref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.neowin.net%2F&xtz=300&jv=13.12.1-stackpath&bv=2.5.1 Are you guys making spiffs on these? Only seems to happen with newegg links? Edit: seems to happen only when logged out.
Brandon H Supervisor Posted December 19, 2018 Supervisor Share Posted December 19, 2018 was about to say I don't notice this but then I saw your edit; I get the redirect as well when not logged in but it doesn't give me any security/certificate error like you're seeing date/time isn't wrong on your computer is it? edit: here's the cert if that's helpful for review @sheinbein @Steven P. @Redmak
Steven P. Administrators Posted December 19, 2018 Administrators Share Posted December 19, 2018 It is skimlinks affiliate links, we used to have it enabled for members too but people complained so it is now only enabled for guests, because running Neowin actually costs money 😮 and we have to make it somehow/somewhere 😛 Brandon H 1 Share
+sheinbein Subscriber² Posted December 22, 2018 Subscriber² Share Posted December 22, 2018 Indeed I'm seeing the same SSL error: "This server could not prove that it is go.neowin.net; its security certificate is from *.redirectingat.com."@DaveLegg @Redmak is there a way to add go.neowin.net to the www.redirectingat.com cert? We have no control over that - it's not our certificate. It's something Skimlinks will need to fix, hopefully @Steven P. can fix that through their support.
