On multiple monitors, is there a way to 'train' windows to use one for certain items?

I am running dual monitors, and whenever I install anything new, the icon always wants to go to the second display, whereas I want it on the primary one. Is there anyway to teach windows to do this?

Hello,

I am not sure if this will work under Windows 10, but in earlier versions of Windows you could size an application so it appears where you want on specific display, then hold down the Control key while using the close widget ("x") on the application window's titlebar to exit it.  The next time the application was opened, it would appear at those coordinates.

Regards,

I believe they have a setting to switch the "primary display" to a certain screen. Been a few years, but I do remember that.

Not natively that I know of, but DisplayFusion from Binary Fortress can do it, and its very reasonably priced.
