Are you looking for free only or do you care if it's pay for?

 

We keep a yearly poll going for best free/paid Anti-Virus pinned in this forum; they should give you a good starting point for deciding :)

 

 

 

 

 

 

Personally I use the built in Windows Defender in 10 and that's enough for me but previously I used to use 360 or Avast (though I've heard Avast has gone down hill in recent years).

If looking at paid I always recommend ESET/NOD32

yeah Mcafee and a few other suites are bad about that; Never had that problem with 360 Total Security though and the nice thing about that free one is it uses both the Avira and BitDefender engines.
