Linux Boot-up

Recommended Posts

Ok i had my HD partitioned into 2 drives. One for windows and the other for mandrake 9.2. Well i got rid of the partition that linux was installed on and merged it, but when i boot up i still get the linux boot load screen. Anyone know whats going on.

You probably still have the linux bootloader installed. I don't remember which bootloader mdk uses by default, but a boot into DOS and "fdisk /mbr" should fix it. What you want to do is repair your master boot record.

The linux bootloader is still installed.

The fdisk /mbr thing will work if you're running win9x, if not, boot in the recovery console (that means boot from the win2k/xp cd and go to the recovery console)

Try the fixmbr command...
