Microsoft Edge Insider Addons appear online

At this point, we should be pretty close to seeing a public preview of Microsoft's upcoming Chromium-powered Edge browser. We uncovered some screenshots of the app last week, and exactly a week ago, support documents appeared online showing that the first previews will only be supported for 64-bit Windows 10.

Now, Microsoft leakster WalkingCat has found another page titled Microsoft Edge Insider Addons, which appears to be a list of extensions for the upcoming browser. Currently, there are 82 Addons listed on the page, although that list will presumably grow. After all, the new Edge will be built on Chromium, so there shouldn't be an issue with most Chrome extensions working with it.

Of course, Microsoft has a long history of strict curation of Edge extensions. At one point, developers had to submit a sort of pitch to the company to see if they'd be approved. It's entirely possible that the firm has the same sort of plans for its new Edge browser, or at least in the beginning.

The list, in its current state, does appear to have the essentials, like LastPass and such. Opening one of the listings and clicking the 'Get' button won't do anything, just in case you're like us and thought you could follow a trail into the Microsoft Store.

Microsoft has only said that the new Edge will be available in preview in the first half of 2019, and that it will eventually come for Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and macOS. There was never any timeframe provided for when general availability will be.
