Battlefield V's battle royale mode Firestorm unveiled, landing on March 25

It's almost time for yet another battle royale to enter the ring, as now DICE has officially unveiled its take on the mode: Firestorm. The mode is heading to Battlefield V in a free update on March 25 as part of the game's post-launch live service model.

Although leaks may have already spoiled details for some, the new cinematic trailer, seen below, paints a rather hectic picture of Firestorm and what it has to offer. A gameplay trailer is slated to arrive next week.

As usual for a battle royale, 64 players will be dropped into a massive map - the largest in the series - that shrinks its playable area as time goes on. Everyone only has a single life and must find weapons and armor scattered around the map to bolster their capabilities. The final squad or member to ultimately survive the fighting is crowned the victor.

Battlefield series staples such as Frostbite engine visuals, vehicles, and destruction are making a return for this mode as expected. The trailer showcases some of these vehicles as well, such as a tractor, an experimental helicopter, an amphibious craft, and what seems to be a tank that players can find.

Firestorm's development duties are being handled by Criterion Games, the Burnout and Need for Speed studio, in collaboration with DICE. This will be the second battle royale to come out of EA's coffers recently as well, considering Respawn Entertainment surprise-dropped its own take on the mode with Apex Legends just last month.
