On a cordless phone handset, the keypad constantly stays lit whether the phone is on base or off of it. Anyone know the coz of this? The brand is AT&T.

Thx

It seems like it could be a short in the lighting, unless you have the ability to disassemble the handset (which I would strongly advise you not to) you're left with two options 1)deal with it 2)replace it, have you tried unplugging the battery from the handset and then plugging it back in and see if it makes any difference?

I would have to agree with jnelson; it sounds like there could be a fault/short on the board that controls the lighting.

You're probably better off just replacing the phone; if AT&T provided the phone you may be able to check with them for a free swap otherwise you should be able to pickup any cheap cordless phone from walmart or the like

landline phones are so cheap now a days there's no real reason to bother 'repairing' a faulty one. :)

for the amount that a cordless phone costs, it is cheaper to replace.  I think you can find them for under  $40.
