Ecander
Hey all, I have been scouring the net to find a Bittorrent client for Red Hat and cant find one. Also if there is one out there can it be run from the command line? Actually in fact if you can point me to any Linux BT client that would rule. MR_Candyman
I personally like Azureus the best. you can get shadow's and ABC to work, but for both you need to install wxpython, which is pointless and kind of a pain to set up...I'd just got for Azureus...runs on java, but is very stable and fast

dotRoot
I was looking for the same thing, but the problem with shadow's is that it requires python, which with past experience I don't like for applications. I'm trying Azureus, but the Sun Java JRE uses installshield, which is having problems installing it on my linux box (even using the -console or -silent flag). I'm deployed so when I need to use my computer I have to telnet to it. Does anyone know where the 1.4.2 JRE is that is just an archive with no install scripts? MR_Candyman
umm... I gather from this that you're using redhat, mandrake, or suse, right? why not compile it from source. I don't think I've ever seen installshield installing from source...
dotRoot
I didn't notice the Source on Sun's site nor did I notice it on any of the FTPs I grabbed the JREs from. I use redhat, but never used the GUI. I just recently came from unix, so I figured why bother, except that it seems the software devs now are appealing to the GUI more. RoboStac
The standard BT client, or the shadows one is great, looks nearly exactly like the equivalent in windows, and has the curses based command line clients, so you don't even need a graphical console (I use it on my server, which has no monitor - works fine over ssh).
