OPPO officially announced in China today its all-new series of smartphones targeted at both the mid-range and high-end markets. As expected, the OPPO Reno's main highlight is its fin-style 16MP pop-up selfie camera plus the high-end variant's 10x hybrid zoom, which was introduced back in January.
The Reno 10x Zoom Edition sports a 6.6-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display. Since it's the flagship model, the phone is powered by a Snapdragon 855 SoC. It also includes a 4,065mAh battery unit with support for OPPO's new VOOC 3.0 fast charging system.
Round the back, the device boasts a triple camera setup with a 48MP main sensor featuring the Sony IMX586, an 8MP super wide camera, and a 13MP periscopic zoom shooter. Additionally, the main and periscope snappers feature optical stabilization and the zoom camera supports 4K at 60fps video recording with hybrid stabilization, 3D audio capture, and audio zoom. The phone also comes with an optical in-display fingerprint sensor and triple microphones.
Meanwhile, the standard Reno variant has a 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display and it's powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 710 SoC. It also packs a 3,765mAh battery. Unlike its bigger sibling, this device features only a dual camera on the back with the same 48MP main sensor and a 5MP depth camera. Also, its camera doesn't have optical stabilization and its video recording capability is limited only to 4K at 30fps.
The Reno 10x Zoom Edition will be available in May starting at ¥3,999 (~$600) to ¥ 4,799 (~$710). The standard version will cost ¥ 2,999 (~$450) for the 6GB/128GB variant while the 8GB/256GB variant will be priced at ¥ 3,599 (~$540), with its availability date scheduled for April 19 in China.
Both models will be launched in Europe on April 24. OPPO also teased the Reno's 5G edition, which will be unveiled in Switzerland later today. The phone will likely be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X50 modem.
