Gmail problem (spam message)

Question

+jnelsoninjax    11,950

I have an issue with Gmail, every 2 weeks I receive an email from my employer saying that my pay statement is available to be viewed, but Gmail keeps marking it at spam, I have gone into the gmail via the web and marked the message not spam, but it continues to flag it as spam. Is there anyway to prevent this from happening?

So I don't see anything wrong in the headers you sent me, arc signed, spf... Really should not be more as spam for any of those things.

edit:  Lack of formatting I missed it on first scan..

dmarc=fail (p=QUARANTINE sp=QUARANTINE dis=QUARANTINE)

You for sure will get marked as spam with that..

They have dmarc setup for that domain, but policy not enabled

"v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:rua@dmarc.amazonses.com; ruf=mailto:ruf@dmarc.amazonses.com"

So yeah could be marked as bad..

I would think all of their employee's that get sent to gmail addresses going to mark that as spam.. Any many other emails as well.

https://www.dmarcanalyzer.com/what-is-a-dmarc-policy/

Hmmm I wonder if based on the policy for just amazon.com and not that amazonses.com

Their policy is set to

"v=DMARC1; p=quarantine; pct=100; rua=mailto:dmarc-reports@bounces.amazon.com; ruf=mailto:dmarc-reports@bounces.amazon.com"

Well lets see the headers from this email... More than likely that have failed to meet specific criteria when sending email.. wrong spf as one example, no ptr or ptr that doesn't match.. The sending IP on some blacklist, etc etc..

You can always create a filter to not mark emails from specific senders as not spam, but you would be doing your employer a favor in pointing out what they are doing wrong - since prob everyone else systems marking these emails as spam as well.

Example of stuff that can cause this - netgate had updated their forum software and some notifications from their forum were being sent via IPv6 to gmail..  When that happened the ipv6 was not listed in their spf records.. gmail marked it as spam.. Had them update the spf records.  Now its not marked as spam ;)

I can not figure out a way to capture the headers, I have them all showing in Thunderbird, but I can not copy them, here is what I get from the web interface:

from:amazonpaystatements@amazon.com via amazonses.com

subject:Your Pay Statement Is Available Now

no need the FULL headers... look at the original..  Send them to me via PM if you don't want to post them public.

View them on gmail vs some client.
