HP made a number of announcements around its gaming laptop lineup today, all the way from the casual Pavilion Gaming brand all the way to the premium OMEN X 2S 15.
Starting at the top-end, the HP OMEN X 2S 15 promises to be the first dual-screen gaming laptop. It has a six-inch touchscreen above the keyboard that works as a second monitor, so you get a full Windows desktop experience that you can do whatever you want with. You can use it for messaging, watching how-to videos, and more.
Naturally, it includes Intel's new ninth-generation 45W H-series processors, up to a Core i9. It also offers Nvidia's GeForce RTX 2080 with Max Q GPU, which offers support for things like real-time ray tracing and DLSS.
Coming in at just 20mm thick, the OMEN X 2S 15 has a liquid metal compound by Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut that's applied to the thermal system. HP says that this results in 10 times the thermal conductivity that you'd get from regular silicon thermal grease. It can get you a boost of 28% FPS in Apex Legends and an 8.5% faster lead time in a Blender Benchmark test.
There's also 12V fans, with vents on three sides. It has two fans in the back corners, and with vents on each side, it allows the PC to pump out more heat. The OMEN X 2S 15 will be available at the end of May, starting at $2,099.99.
While the OMEN X brand intends to redefine the market, the OMEN brand is still premium with its new OMEN 15 and OMEN 17 laptops. Once again, you'll get ninth-gen Intel H-series CPUs and up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 in either one.
They also offer 12V fans with three-sided ventilation. HP says that the OMEN 15 has 66% longer fin length, a 6% increase in airflow, and a 7% increase in the total fan size. The OMEN 17 has a 2% larger fan size, 46% larger fin length, and 11% increased airflow.
The bezels have been shrunken down on both models, and they're available in 1080p at either 240Hz, 144Hz, or 60Hz, or at 4K 60Hz.
The OMEN 15 and OMEN 17 will be available in June, starting at $1,049.99 and $1,099.99, respectively.
There is also a range of accessories to go with them, including the 240Hz OMEN X 25 and OMEN X 25f monitors, the OMEN Photon Wireless Mouse, and the OMEN Outpost Mousepad with Qi Wireless Charging. The OMEN X 25 with Nvidia G-Sync will be available on September 1 for $549.99, the OMEN X 25f with Adaptive Sync will be available on June 23 for $449.99, the Photon Wireless Mouse is coming on July 15 for $129.99, and the Outpost Mousepad is coming on July 15 for $99.99.
For the casual gaming market, HP has Pavilion Gaming 15 and Pavilion Gaming 17. They include up to an H-series ninth-gen Intel Core i7 and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. The bezels are also slimmed down on these, and you get a choice between Green, Ultraviolet, and Ghost White for the color of the accent and the keyboard backlight.
HP is boasting 22% larger fans on the Pavilion Gaming 15, with 85% increased airflow. The Pavilion Gaming 17 has 78% larger fans and 74% increased airflow.
The HP Pavilion Gaming 15 and Pavilion Gaming 17 will both be available this month, starting at $799.99 and $849.99, respectively.
