trenzterra
I just installed it, and there is no mp3 support on it... How and where do I get MP3 support for my Fedora? Also, is there any zipper on Fedora?
HodgeMan
Really bad on RH/Fedora's part was not including Multi-Media Support "right out of the box" Anyway - File Roller is the default archiving application, and as for MP3, I use grip. Look here for updates and additional packages http://freshrpms.net Reguards
Danrarbc
Here are XMMS MP3 plugins MP3, DVD, and video playback weren't included because of legal concerns, RedHat is a company so they're worried about those things.
hornett
I thought it was because MP3 is proprietry and Fedora was made entirely of GNU/ free software.
MR_Candyman
hornett's right...you can thank the Fraunhofer Institute for that. Dr. Karlheinz Brandenburg (the inventor of the mp3) most likely had a hand in it aswell (he works at the Fraunhofer Institute)
[ucw]prophet
I found the following site to be a good resource for first time Fedora users: http://fedora.artoo.net/faq/
