Graphics card fan on but no signal

Recommended Posts

I just lost my hard drive on my ASUS CM6850. I replaced the hard drive but now no signal from my monitor.  Googling things led me to remove my card and re-seat it.  Disconnect and reconnect.  Doesn’t matter.  The fan comes on.  No vga or hdmi signal.  I tried both vga ports and my hdmi port.  No difference.  This is the card that came originally with the computer.  Worked fine until I replaced the HDD. Help??   I am learning

Make sure you didn't knock the 4 pin CPU power connector loose. If your motherboard has this. located in close proximity to your CPU.

Could also be the HDD being faulty. If the power connector is lose, the fan would not be on?

Try taking the HDD off. Does it work without it connected?

Your GFX card have a 6-port power plug?

Also, umm, are you plugging into the GFX card, or onboard? This happens more than you think...

Great suggestion, I accidentally do that all the time, then scratch my ass wondering why I don't have a display!
