markwolfe Veteran Posted February 5, 2004 Veteran Share Posted February 5, 2004 With Linux, there are few limits (once you ensure your hardware is supported). A good place to summarize the major distros is at http://www.distrowatch.com Any of the major distros are good places to start. You can then see what you like and what you don't and load different distros to try them on. Best of Luck! (and try to ignore most of the curt replies, as some people just get tired of hearing the same question over and over, they really are pretty helpful people once you get past the "which distro" question. ;) lol) Mark
Xer34
lol.. ive found that asking anyone whos a semi-linux guru is futile.. they just call you a newb and tell you to RTFM.. dunno.. but i started out with Slackware.. pretty easy and kewl once you get to know it.. knoppix and bad either

Iguana
no im' not embaressed, what better way to learn then to ask huh True, but asking a question which has been answered many, many, many, many times over makes you look stupid. :)
umerh
I think you must start with MandrakeMove and then after getting familiar with the environment you must install the Mandrake 9.2 distro onto your harddrive
