AOXOMOXOA
I just purchased a new NAS, I installed two 6TB NAS drives and it all just set up automatically. I wanted it to be set up as Raid 1, it never asked me or gave me any options with this setup, But I do believe that it already did just that. I have always used my server or just set up raid manually through motherboard configs or used FreeNas, so my question is this, does anyone with experience with Synology know if Raid 1 is just the default it does with 2 drives installed? I think it is, But it wont let me delete the storage pool and recreate it, so if i is already done and fine, then I am good and will continue on my marry way. looking under the storage manager window it says, Synology Hybrid Raid with data protection for 1-drive fault tolerance. Storage pool 1 Btrfs Normal 5.24 TB Thank you in advanced
+Raze Subscriber² Posted September 6, 2019 Subscriber² Share Posted September 6, 2019 I have the Synology NAS DiskStation - Diskless (DS216+II) and use the Synology Hybrid RAID and I've had no issues. Some info about RAID vs Synology SHR - https://nascompares.com/guide/shr-synology-hybrid-raid/

I see there is a drive client you can use, This i have already downloaded and it is backing up pictures from my server as i type this. or by using the built in apps in the other installed widgets thing? these i found by a web browser and going in through the built in software. sorry I'm not sure exactly what to call it. or does it make a difference? I will be backing up a very large folder from my windows server, and then backing up a few other computers.
+Raze Subscriber² Posted September 6, 2019 Subscriber² Share Posted September 6, 2019 For my PC backups I use SyncBackFree - https://www.2brightsparks.com/freeware/freeware-hub.html I haven't used any of the Synology apps except Video Station and Audio Station to catalog and stream my media.
