Apple announces seventh-gen iPad with 10.2-inch display

Apple held its annual September event today, where it announced a new base model iPad. It keeps the Home button, which is gone on the new iPad Pro models, but it borrows a lot of features from the Pro lineup.

The screen is now bigger at 10.2 inches, replacing the old 9.7-inch model in a similarly-sized body. In fact, that body is now made out of 100% recycled aluminum.

It has an A10 processor, so Apple says it's still twice as fast as a top-selling PC. The company is adding Smart Keyboard support, adding the pins on the body that we've seen on the iPad Pro lineup since its inception. It also includes a USB Type-C port, so you can plug in a USB drive.

Of course, Apple touted the fact that it's made for iPadOS, its new version of iOS for iPads. It contains new features like more icons on the home screen, widgets on the home screen, and much more. It also adds support for multiple instances of apps and better Slideover.

The new seventh-generation iPad will be available starting at $329.
