Microsoft unveils new, more colorful logo for Edge

Over the past couple of days, Microsoft has been providing Edge fans with a series of clues regarding the Chromium-based Edge browser. The clues, which were quickly deciphered by fans collaborating on a Discord server, finished today with a minigame that can be found within the browser when certain conditions, indicated by all the previous hints, have been met.

The hints were shared of different media channels for the Edge team, including the Tech Community forums, and the browser's dedicated subreddit. The last hint, dropped today, is a video posted on Twitter, which, combined with the previous hints, tells users to create an Edge collection with items that spell the word "surf". When that's done, the minigame linked above can be played.

Upon completing the minigame, users can see the message above, which shows off the new icon for the browser. The new design falls closely in line with other icons Microsoft has put out recently, specifically for many of its Office apps. It does away with the E-shaped logo that's been a staple of Microsoft browsers since Internet Explorer, and looks more like a wave, an obvious nod to the act of surfing the web.

As of right now, the new logo isn't actually being used yet, but with the cat out of the bag, it's certainly possible we'll see it in Insider builds soon. Plus, Microsoft Ignite is next week, so there might be more news about the new Edge then.
