Sharing webpages between Chrome on different devices became a breeze after Google rolled out an update to the browser in August of this year. That cross-device productivity feature lets users send a webpage from a Windows 10 PC to a mobile device with a single click, provided you've signed in to your Google account.
Now, Google appears to have created a new way of quickly sharing a webpage with others, this time via a QR Code. This capability was spotted by Techdows on a new commit and is currently live on the latest builds of Chrome Canary.
For now, the feature sits hidden within a flag in Chrome Canary. If your PC has the latest build of Chrome Canary installed, you can enable this option by visiting chrome://flags. Then search for the "Enable sharing page via QR code" option and choose "Enabled". You must restart Chrome to finally use this webpage sharing feature.
Once it's enabled, you can right-click on a webpage in order to see the option for generating QR code for sharing that page. You can generate QR codes for sharing sites in the Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, and Linux versions of Chrome.
Your friends or colleagues can then scan the QR code on the screen using their phone's camera or any QR scanning apps to open that webpage on their own device. For now, the feature seems to be malfunctioning as it generates blank QR Codes. It's obviously still being tested and it remains to be seen when Google will roll it out widely.
