Still rocking the Microsoft Defender/MalwareBytes combo for Windows and ClamAV for my Linux and Mac systems. So far these haven't let me down.

I tend to just stick with the default Windows Defender on Windows systems as it does not interfere with stuff and works well enough. it just tends to be one of the safer choices in general and it's protection is good enough.

but as usual... the best line of defense is the user being cautious on what they allow to run on their systems and don't fall for Phishing schemes etc. so if your fairly good here, hopefully if something does slip by, Windows Defender will catch it.

and as a general rule... don't have Java or Flash installed on your browser unless you must use them as just doing that gives one a decent boost to their overall system security and keep your programs up to date, especially your browser and chances are you will be fine.

my advice... avoid using smart phones for anything important online as they tend not to get security updates as quickly, or at all, unlike Windows/Linux desktop which get security updates quickly etc.

p.s. but I use Linux (Linux Mint v19.3) as my general day-to-day OS. so I don't run any anti-virus but instead use Firejail (a sandbox program for Linux (I run the newest one on their SourceForge page)) to help ensure nothing shady gets onto ones system from browsing the web, especially if your occasionally on suspect websites, but even occasionally more legit websites get hit with drive-by downloads. Firejail is just extra insurance for ones Home folder basically and it's easy enough for the average person to get it running on their browser and basically does not interfere with general use (although your limited to saving files, by default, only to the 'Downloads' folder and when you run files you download, make sure to access them from your file browser and not from Firefox itself since it will be in the sandbox which we don't want). many say one does not need a anti-virus for Linux systems which is why as a bonus, those who have underpowered CPU's will benefit from a overall faster running system on Linux than they would with Windows since less CPU resources are wasted running unnecessary junk.

I find that if you're going to use anything other Defender for a free solution, Kaspersky seems  to be pretty good as free option, I've tested it on a few different PCs with no issue.

PC monitors saw their highest growth ever in 2020, says IDC
      by Paul Hill

The analyst firm IDC has found that the PC monitor market saw its best year ever in 2020 when looking at growth compared to the year before. It found that for the full year of 2020, shipments grew by 8.3% compared to 2019. In addition, the fourth quarter (4Q20) saw a growth of 16.9% compared to the same period the year before with shipments passing 39.2 million – the PC monitor market has not sold that many units since 4Q11.

As you’ll probably have guessed, the record growth was driven due to the shift to working and learning from home. IDC also said that component shortages led manufacturers to amass stocks of monitors before any price hikes set in, meaning there were more units available for sale to consumers.

Discussing the findings, Jay Chou, research manager for IDC’s Quarterly PC Monitor Tracker, said:

The top five manufacturers of PC monitors in 2020 were Dell (19.3% market share), TPV (14.1%), HP (13.5%), Lenovo (10.5%), and Samsung (8.6%). Compared to 2019, Dell and HP saw a decline in sales of less than 1%. Meanwhile, TPV, Lenovo, and Samsung all saw growth compared to 2019 with Samsung recording the highest at 30.6%.

IDC says that manufacturers will face component shortages through the first half of this year, despite this, it believes that hybrid working and gaming will help to support the recovery of commercial spending on displays as people begin to return to their offices. Finally, IDC pointed out that the United States overtook China as the biggest market for displays and is expected to remain the biggest market in the coming years.

      Malwarebytes 4.3.0.210 (offline installer)
      by Razvan Serea

Malwarebytes is a high performance anti-malware application that thoroughly removes even the most advanced malware and spyware. Malwarebytes version 4.xx brings comprehensive protection against today’s threat landscape so that you can finally replace your traditional antivirus.

You can finally replace your traditional antivirus, thanks to a innovative and layered approach to prevent malware infections using a healthy combination of proactive and signature-less technologies. While signatures are still effective against threats like potentially unwanted programs, the majority of malware detection events already come from signature-less technologies like Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit and Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware; that trend will only continue to grow. For many of you, this is something you already know, since over 50% of the users already run Malwarebytes as their sole security software, without any third-party antivirus.

What is new in this version:

Onboarding wizard: Something went wrong page

      Onboarding wizard: Forgot password

      30 day security summary pop-up

      Improved detection and remediation

      Improved performance

      Some Issues now addressed:

Fixed: MB4 shows wrong OS on scan reports under certain circumstances

Fixed: Exploit options under the security Tab don't stay Off

      Fixed: Several UI issues

Tesla manufactured more than half a million cars in 2020
      by Usman Khan Lodhi

Tesla revealed today that it manufactured 509,737 cars this year, meeting its goal of producing half a million cars in 2020. The automaker made a total of 499,550 deliveries (99.91 percent) throughout the year, and there's a chance that this number could be higher, as Tesla mentioned the possibility of the number varying by up to 0.5 percent or more due to its "slightly conservative" method of counting deliveries. A car is only counted as delivered after it has been delivered to the owner and all paperwork is correct.

A Twitter user uploaded a snippet of an interview that Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, gave in 2014 in which he was asked how the Nevada Gigafactory will help the automaker ramp up production.

Tesla's Shanghai plant has begun production of Model Y cars and its deliveries are expected to begin shortly.

2020 was an eventful year for Tesla. The automaker manufactured its 1,000,000th electric car in March, and its factories in California and Shanghai had to be closed for several weeks to curb the spread of COVID-19. Musk threatened to pull the factory out of California and defied lockdown orders. Tesla also overtook Toyota to become the world's most valuable automaker in 2020.
