Hi,

I installed windows 10 on my desktop in my kitchen, put in software that I use regular basis and everything displayed on my desktop normally. I used an usb network card for internet activity and all was fine. I then moved my desktop to my basement where I normally keep it, hocked it up to mouse, keyboard, network cable without issue. I turned on my PC and all my program shortcuts disappeared somehow.  The taskbar has all its shortcuts and same with the system tray. I still have internet access with no problem. The only difference is i used a different monitor. Display driver issue on monitor in basement? That monitor is a samsung syncmaster 216bw. Dell monitor worked fine upstairs.

What the hell would coz this?

Check and see if it's thinking theres a secondary monitor showing up, worse comes to worse right click on the desktop and select "auto-arrange"

Its funny as samsung customer support said the monitor was too old and I needed a new one. Sad to say but every computer related corp whether is MS, verizon, samsung, dell...etc their customer support has gone to sh!t, especially when it is abroad from USA. Thk god for forums and ppl like urselves.
