MulletRobZ
Greetings. In Windows, there is an ink level monitor for this printer along with cleaning utilities as well. However, I can't seen to be able to do this with Linux under CUPS. Is there any special software I need in order to get such an utility to work? That way, I can figure out which ink cartridge may be running low and that kind of stuff.
markwolfe Veteran Posted February 7, 2004 Veteran Share Posted February 7, 2004 Good question. I can see two ways of monitoring ink levels: a) the printer tracks the useage and responds to special requests from the computer or b) the computer tracks it (via the manufacturer's installed drivers/utilities) Either way, Linux is certainly capable of doing the same thing. The question is, did the printer OEM make this information available to the Open Source community? If not, has someone spent time to hack it and see what is going on, and then code something? I don't know the answers to this, but I would search http://google.com/linux for some Linux-specific answers.

MulletRobZ
But upon installation, I can't find the Epson Stylus C62 listed. What's up with that?
MrStaticVoid
That's strange. When I start mtink for the first time, the C62 is listed. If it isn't there, try a compatible model like the C82.
MulletRobZ
Ah, what? mtink? I downloaded the XW-Tools, from the same site, and it's over a year old. Oh God! I don't remember this screen at all.
