medhunter Posted January 9, 2020 Share Posted January 9, 2020 (edited) This community helped me so much earlier and whenever I am seeking strategic or tactical decisions, I come here first .I have relocated and been staying almost 2.5 to 3 months in home country every year in vacations and I have to maintain the whole family's tech gadgets ie: My home apatment , my familys' house 3 apartments and the one in KSA as well (the main one) This is for my main apartment ATM My Tech Objectives: Basic PC needs: browsing,.... Linux 4K playback/Streaming @ 60 hz Servers: NextCloud, piHole, PiVPN, Deluge Gaming: undecided, mostly Xbox for now What I have: MiniPC: i3 7100, 8GB RAM, 128 GB SSD 4K TV : Philips 55 inch Xbox one X 1TB Raspberry Pi4 4GB HDD: 2 TB 2.5 2.5 years old HDD: 4TB: NAS : new SSD: 240 SATA SSD : New Flash drives: 64GB, 3x 32gb i5 4690K Boxed : still new old Netbook 2011: 1.4 GHZ, 1gb Ram Fiber optic connection 80MB/S, Gigabit LAN, sswitch and Cat 6 cables all along Another 40 inch smart FHDD TV Logiteck all in one KB+ mouse for smart TV (Xbox!!) how can get these objectives? My initial plan: MiniPC for basic tasks : running Manjaro Linux RPI: NC, PiHole, PiVPN, Deluge, Plex. with NAS drive at least attached Xbox X for gaming and streaming from plex Alternative 1: Additionally : will get either the Netbook or buy another RPi zero or 3+ to get the PiHole, PiVPN servers running Alternative2: MiniPC should take on the servers in additional to the basic stuff and strream to Xbox 4k (60hz!!!!) RPi: small servers and experimentation Xbox forr gaming and streaming And if it is too much for the miniPC , I will build a rather decent desktop Ryzen 3600!!!
