Digital Wellbeing adds thirty-minute pause option to Wind Down

Excessive usage of technology is something that companies have been focusing more and more on recently, with features like Digital Wellbeing on Android aimed to limit users' daily screen time. Google rolled out the Focus mode feature last month, giving users the ability to pause selected apps and blocking all incoming notifications from them. Now the firm is giving users some leeway by letting them briefly pause Wind Down mode in the latest beta version of the app.

The Wind Down feature primarily aims to let users focus on some important tasks by eliminating distractions and switching the display to grayscale. Scheduling this feature to start working at bedtime, and ending at the time you want to wake up seems to be a bit rigid as users might go to bed without finishing the work that they are supposed to turn in. Until now, it was only possible to manually switch Wind Down mode back on after it had been turned off.

The latest version includes the new "pause for 30 minutes" option which can be tapped if there are some tasks that users need to do before going to bed. Wind Down feature will be automatically resumed once thirty minutes have passed. If users don't need all the thirty minutes to complete their remaining tasks, they may switch Wellbeing back on from the notification bar as per their convenience.

This feature is rolling out to those who have signed up for the beta program of the app, but it may not show up on your devices yet since this appears to be a server-side update. You can sign up for the beta program on the Play Store, or download the app directly from APK Mirror.
