Obsidian Entertainment's latest RPG, The Outer Worlds, was supposed to land on the Nintendo Switch on March 6, months after the original release on other platforms. However, the release was pushed back as the studio behind the port closed its offices due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Now, a new release date has been announced, with The Outer Worlds heading to the Nintendo Switch on June 5. The game will be arriving in both physical and digital formats. Following a change to the original plans, the physical edition will, in fact, arrive with a cartridge. Both editions will cost $59.99 to purchase.
Keep in mind that there will be a day-one update weighing in at 6GB waiting for players who go the physical route. This patch will be bringing optimizations, higher resolution textures, alongside bug fixes aimed at providing "the best gameplay experience" to the new colonists heading towards Halcyon.
Meanwhile, Obsidian is currently working on story DLC for The Outer Worlds, but no information about the setting or release dates have been announced yet. It's unclear if the DLC will also be delayed on Nintendo's hybrid console just like the base game.
