the graphics card is going to kill you. I have a 2.0 @ 2.2 with a 9600 XT and at 1024 * 768 andmedium settings, the game lags terribly in high action in multiplayer at least. You may want to force your card to use pixel shader 1.1

the game lags no matter what graphics card you have. i suggest you play with the settings, the card should be good enough (but barely ;)). i have a geforce 3 ti 200, and while it's better than yours, i still get no more than 30 fps, even when overclocked

how do i do that and i would like to overclock it

overclocking won't help your card at all, I'm not even sure if a 32mb version will meet the minimum requirements. I had the 64mb version.

The PS 1.1 option is set via the command line. Google it, I'm sure you'll find it.

his card cant hanle PS 1.1 its an MX

btw, when i run my game at 1024x768 with max settings and PS2.0 i get about 30FPS NO MATTER WHAT Rig specs:

AMD Athlon XP 2200+

Shuttle MK35N Motherboard

768MB DDR PC2100 Memory

80GB 7200 RPM Main

40GB 5400 RPM Backup

Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB

SoundBlaster Audigy 2

16x DVD Drive

12x8x32 CD-RW

15? CRT Monitor

Windows XP Corporate Edition SP1

so dont say it lags on every machine!:angry:y:

30fps lock gave me on average about 20-30 on my system:

1ghz athlon, 256mb ram, geforce 3 ti 200 (64mb)

it's good enough to play i guess, but i wish it was more...

Of course, I do not recommend overclocking a GeForce 4MX. Graphic cards are cheap, go buy a good one. I picked up my GF4 Ti4800 for $290 AUD, and have seen recently a Radeon 9600XT for $199 AUD.

But I'm not recommending a new card to get the game to work better. to be honest, it ran faster on my GF4Mx than my Ti4800....

And the whole changing what version pixel shader the game uses is bull$%&. You shouldn't have to mess with such things when the game is meant to do it itself.... bad foresight in development.

Of course, I do believe where they went wrong was their Dx9 lighting engine that Gearbox implemented. If it had been a straight console port, well, the XBox's graphics hardware was a derivative of the GeForce 3 Ti.....this game should have ran sweet on even what is today considered older hardware

Anyway, back on topic, my recommendation is that you take the game back and get your money back. If you really wanna play Halo, buy an XBox (I recommend that and I don't even like consoles)

should i get an 9800 xt/pro or some of the the other radeon cards?

If you're dedicated to getting an ATI, I would recommend the 9600 XT. Value for money, it's only downside been it's not as fast as the 9800XT...but then again not many other cards reach to performance of the 9600XT (maybe the GF FX 5950 Ultra...but that costs a hell of a lot more)
