XCOM: Chimera Squad, 2K’s newest addition to the XCOM series releases tonight. The new game takes place 5 years after the events of the previous game XCOM 2. As part of the release, 2K is giving fans the opportunity to play XCOM 2 for free for a limited time. The full game will be available until 11:59 PM PT April 29 on Xbox One. Meanwhile, on Steam, it will be available for ten hours longer, until 9:59 AM PT April 30.

XCOM 2 is a science-fiction strategy game, set after XCOM: Enemy Unknown. The game takes place after the events of the previous game, on an earth occupied by enemy aliens. The player is the commander of the XCOM organization turned resistance force. The aim of the game is to eliminate aliens through turn-based tactics. Maps are procedurally generated in an effort to create a new challenge for every level.

This free trial is part of 2K’s Give Back Project. Previously as part of its Give Back Project, 2K offered a free limited time play of Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition. The company plans to continue providing free play periods for its games.
