Firefox 76.0.1 suddenly can not see anything on YouTube

So for the last few days, I have not been able to see anything on YouTube. When I go to the site, it is blank, and when I search for anything, the result is also blank. I have disabled all my add-ons and the result is the same. I can view it in a private window, and other browsers, but in my standard profile, even with everything disabled, nothing loads. I have no idea what could be causing this issue, and it is rather annoying. I have cleared the cache, I have done hard refreshes (ctrl+F5) and nothing changes.

That did not solve anything either.

does it do the same thing in an in-private tab? never mind, reread and saw this works correctly.

it's got to be something corrupt with your extensions or something else on your profile then. try my 2nd though below.

if you launch in safe-mode from the help menu does that help?

if it works in safe mode then something on your firefox profile may be corrupt. you can create a new profile by launching firefox with the -P flag in a run dialog box. if it works on a new profile then move things over to the new profile 1 by 1

The latest Firefox had a regression for me, exhibiting similar behavior and affecting fast.com and speedtest.net on a repeatable basis. Could be related.

I filed a bug here and did a Mozregression analysis.

It does not work in safe mode, it yields the exact same thing.

So I created a new profile, no add-ons and went to YouTube. It worked until I logged into Google, then I get the wonderful blank screen that I shared earlier.

On the new profile, no errors except the message about the cookies like the screen shot shows

So just to confirm where the issue is, I logged out of my Google account and went to YouTube and I was able to view videos, but as soon as I signed in, I was at the blank screen. But, this only happens in Firefox, I use Brave or Edge, and I can login to my Google account and see YouTube videos, so I am really out of options here, is this issue with Firefox or with Google, or both?

Use chrome or Edge chromium and stay away from FF. I was a devoted FF user for 15 yrs but tried these other browsers and would never go back to FF.

Hello,

I have noticed this behavior on occasion when I updated my video card's device drivers and did not reboot the system afterwards.

After rebooting the system, videos displayed as normal in the web browser on YouTube.

Regards,

Aryeh Goretsky

Well I've done multiple reboots since this issue started, so that is not the issue. It is really annoying that I have to use a separate browser just to watch YouTube and I would love to get to the root cause of this issue.

@BruinatorYou are entitled to your opinion, but what you said is not at all helpful.

@jnelsoninjaxCan you try to "refresh" from "about:support"?

Also can you share the modified preferences in "about:support"?

Also for the time being, can you turn-off "Tracking Protection"? It could be that internal tracking protection is aggressively blocking something or some needed session cookie.

Sorry, just making a suggestion. You never know as you might like/prefer it. :)

I will disable tracking protection and see what happens.

Disabled tracking protection, and nothing changed.

I have done a refresh, same results, even creating a new profile yielded the same result, here are the modified preferences:

I understand, I really like Firefox, and with the exception of a few minor issues, have never had trouble with it. But you did make a valid suggestion, I have been using Brave, which is a Chrome based browser and it seems to work pretty decently, just not ready to make it my daily driver, yet.
