Sony delays its PlayStation 5 event, no new date in sight

Last week, Sony announced that it would be holding an event on June 4 to talk about its upcoming PlayStation 5 console and its games. The company has been somewhat secretive about the new console, painting a stark contrast to Microsoft's openness with the Xbox Series X, so fans were likely excited for the event.

Unfortunately, PlayStation fans will have to wait a while longer, as Sony has just announced on Twitter that it's delaying the event. The delay comes as a result of the tragic events that have taken place in the United States over the past few days, with Sony saying it isn't the right time for celebration.

Sony isn't the first major company to hold back on major public events as a result of the current state of matters. Electronic Arts, which was planning to talk about the upcoming Madden NFL 21 game today, delayed the event as well. Google, for its part, has also delayed the Android 11 beta launch that was scheduled for June 3, for the same reason.

As of right now, none of these companies has provided a new date for their events, and it's unclear how long the wait will be.
