Microsoft acknowledges printing issues with all Windows 10 versions

Microsoft started testing out Windows 10 20H1 back in February 2019, and the RTM build was released to Insiders for testing in December. After that, it was serviced for five months before being released as the Windows 10 May 2020 Update. Still, there are a ton of known issues in it.

Added to the list over the weekend is a print spooler issue that might cause it to close when trying to print. Moreover, Microsoft says that you might not even be able to use software-based printers, such as printing to PDF.

The issue was introduced with the latest Patch Tuesday update, but unfortunately, this isn't even exclusive to the May 2020 Update. This issue affects all supported versions of Windows 10, Windows Server, and even Windows 8.1. To be clear, those supported versions include 2004, 1909, 1903, 1809, 1803, 1709, 1607, and 1507. If you installed this month's Patch Tuesday updates, you might have a problem with this.

Microsoft didn't post a workaround, but the obvious fix would be to uninstall the problematic update.

The Redmond firm made some other changes to the known issues over the weekend. There's an issue with opening Office apps that was added as already resolved, thanks to an external fix. Also, an issue affecting mouse input in games that use GameInput Redistributable has been resolved.
