Barney T. Administrators Posted June 17, 2020 Administrators Share Posted June 17, 2020 Hi guys, I just upgraded to the newest update for Windows 10 on my desktop and I noted that it took really long to download and install. On reboot, the screen was completely black and I could see the mouse arrow when I moved the mouse around. The screen remained black and the arrow vanished. I rebooted it and there was a message that stated "Attempting Recovery". No boot to the desktop.... only a black/grey screen. WTF? Any ideas? Barney T. Administrators Posted June 17, 2020 Author Administrators Share Posted June 17, 2020 On reboot the second time, it says" Undoing changes made to your computer..." I guess that it is a borked installation.
Brandon H Supervisor Posted June 17, 2020 Supervisor Share Posted June 17, 2020 yeah usually that's the display driver not playing nice causing explorer to crash or something. once it rolls back I'd check for any driver updates before you attempt to update again. goretsky Supervisor Posted June 18, 2020 Supervisor Share Posted June 18, 2020 Hello, Try updating all of the computer's device drivers (check the computer or chip manufacturer's website for latest drivers). Also, try uninstalling your security software--just don't forget to reinstall it when the upgrade is finished.
