Hum
Donald J. Trump has just been sworn in as the 45th President of the United States. Congrats Mr. President Washington (CNN)Donald Trump became the 45th President of the United States Friday during a time-honored inauguration ceremony that encapsulated the peaceful transfer of power that is a hallmark of American democracy. On a raised platform on the flag-draped West Front of the Capitol, Trump placed his left hand on one Bible that dates from his childhood and another that belonged to Abraham Lincoln and raised his right hand in the air as he promised to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution. Under gray skies and in front of a crowd stretching most of the way from the Capitol toward the Washington Monument, Trump took the oath from Chief Justice John Roberts with the new First Lady Melania Trump by his side. http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/20/politics/donald-trump-inauguration-highlights/index.html blank, Dysphoria, RockmanNeo and 7 others 10 Share Link to comment

wakjak
Here's everything Donald Trump has promised to do on his first day in office (or, in a few cases, things his running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, has promised Trump will do): Quote Repeal every single Obama executive order." (He has also pledged more specifically to "eliminate every unconstitutional executive order.") "Repeal Obamacare." (On Trump's campaign website, he's less bullish, promising only to "ask Congress" on day one to repeal Obamacare immediately.) "End the war on coal." "Begin swiftly removing criminal illegal immigrants from this country." (More specifically, Trump has promised to do this in his "first hour" in office, "day one, before the wall, before anything.") "Begin working on an impenetrable, physical, tall, powerful, beautiful, southern border wall." Meet with Homeland Security officials and generals to begin securing the southern border. "Notify all countries that refuse to take back dangerous illegal immigrants who have committed crimes in this country that they will lose access to our visa programs if they continue to do so." Convene his top generals and inform them they have 30 days to come up with a plan to stop ISIS. Fix the Department of Veterans Affairs. Call the heads of major companies who are moving operations oversea to inform them that they'll face 35 percent tariffs. "Contact countries and say…'Folks, we love protecting you, we want to continue to protect you but you're not living up to the bargain'…They're not paying what they're supposed to be paying—which is very little, by the way." "Defend the unborn." "Withdraw from TPP." "Start taking care of our…military." Suspend Syrian refugee resettlement. "Notify our NAFTA partners of my intention to renegotiate the deal." "Designate China as a currency manipulator." "Direct every agency in government to begin identifying all wasteful job-killing regulations, and they are going to be removed." "Get rid of gun-free zones [in] schools" and "military bases"—which would require repealing a 25-year-old federal law. ("My first day, it gets signed, okay? My first day. There's no more gun-free zones.") "Ask Congress to pass 'Kate's Law'—named for Kate Steinle—to ensure that criminal aliens convicted of illegal reentry receive strong mandatory minimum sentences." Learn the difference between Hezbollah and Hamas. http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/09/donald-trump-first-day-in-office He's got lots to do between now and midnight tonight! +primortal, SecretAgentMan and sinetheo 3 Share Link to comment

Why the hell would I go out in public to a rally where protesters may show up? Nah, not safe. Many will stay to themselves, for the same reason that the pollsters got it all the wrong, thanks to an air of anger and hostility that comes with sharing any opinion against the status quo. trag3dy
The problem with those two pictures is that they are not given any content. Were they taken at the exact same time or were they taken at different times? The Trump one could have been taken hours before or after the ceremonies while the Obama one could have been taken right in the middle of. It's extremely easy to say "look at how many people showed up for Trump compared to Obama, he must be so unpopular!" when you leave out all context. So until context is delivered those pictures mean nothing. In any case, I don't get the people are hoping Trump does bad as President. That just seems extremely counter productive and stupid. I didn't and don't care for Obama but he had his chance to do what he felt he needed to do. It's time to move on and see what Trump can do for better or worse. Politico It all depends if he's just hot air or indents doing what he said he'll do. If he's all hot air the republications are SOL. Right now he's not doing what he claims he'll do his inauguration speech: Quote So to all Americans, in every city near and far, small and large, from mountain to mountain, and from ocean to ocean, hear these words: You will never be ignored again. To start, Americans are asking not to repeal ACA and that seems to be falling on deft ears. menifred, Xenon, TPreston and 1 other 4 Share Link to comment
