Following the teaser from last week, today Activision announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is releasing November 13 on current-generation platforms. The title is incoming with a single-player campaign that will connect to the original Black Ops from 2010, as well as multiplayer and zombie modes. Check out the reveal trailer above.
Here's how this entry's developers Treyarch and Raven Software described the story, which will take players across the globe to locales like East Berlin, Vietnam, Turkey, and Soviet-era Moscow:
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will drop players into the depths of the Cold War's volatile geopolitical battle of the early 1980s. In a gripping single-player Campaign, players will descend into the dark center of a global conspiracy alongside iconic characters Woods, Mason, and Hudson, as well as a new cast of operatives to stop a plot decades in the making.
Meanwhile on the multiplayer front, Cold War will arrive with cross-platform play and cross-progression capabilities that extend across generations, letting players on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation join together for their head to head sessions. To unveil information about this portion, Activision will be hosting a dedicated multiplayer reveal on September 9 on the Call of Duty Twitch channel.
However, confirming recent leaks, it was revealed today that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will not offer free next-gen upgrades, with a $69.99 Cross-Gen Bundle available for Xbox and PlayStation players if they also want to jump into the next-gen Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5 console versions when they launch this holiday.
The Standard Edition comes in at $59.99 and is available for pre-order now on PC via Battle.net, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. An open beta will be kicking off before launch too, and those who pre-order will get access to it earlier than everyone else.
